Waiting

We were at the hospital.

We were waiting …

My son had his six monthly check-up with the endocrinologist. My stomach was churning – an all too familiar feeling. The specialist hadn’t arrived yet. Our appointment time had already passed.

The waiting area was a few chairs placed at the end of a long corridor. People were walking past us constantly. The space was tight. Others joined us on the chairs and waited with us.

I looked around and saw a pile of magazines. I got up to pick one to read. They were very old. I don’t think they have changed in the years I have been attending this clinic with my son. I went back to my seat and continued to wait.

The doctor rushed past us.

We kept waiting …

In that moment I realised that I spend huge amounts of my life waiting.

Waiting under the tree

Waiting for …

People
Things to happen
Clarity
Insight
Words
Ideas
The next challenge
Opportunities
A response
Service
Results
Decisions
Traffic lights to turn green
People crossing the road
Fear to disappear
Things to improve
Dreams to come true
Peace
Balance

Waiting for …

The moment it all makes sense.

Oh how frustrating,
Waiting seems like such a waste of precious time. Or is it?
