Love is in the air

Love is everywhere today

I wrote your name in the sand
but the waves washed it away,
then I wrote it in the sky
but the wind blew it away,
so I wrote it in my heart
and that’s where it will stay.

Cards, flowers, and presents have been purchased, and plans made for yet another Valentine’s Day. For some there is the anticipation that something special might happen for them today. For others there is a feeling of loneliness and sadness. For many, it is just another day.

“Did you get any roses today?” asked my mama when she called me this evening. This was not an unrealistic expectation given my husband’s proclivity for romantic gestures and surprises.

“No, I didn’t,” I replied. “I don’t need roses today. I have roses every day!”

I feel as though my life is full of roses because I know I am loved, and that I love others. This is all I need.

Esther K. Smith, in her post Take Hearts to Heart, gives some great advice in relation to celebrating Valentine’s Day:

Forget those diamonds “as seen on TV,” forced romantic dinners, pretentious champagne, boxes of chocolates with uncertain fillings. Cut out a paper heart, mount it on a doily, make a collage, and mail it to someone you like.

Heart symbols abound in our environment. We just need to open our eyes and see them.

Love everywhere. Look for the heart symbols.

These heart symbols are a constant reminder of the power of love. Use them as daily reminders to demonstrate to the people you love that they are important and that they are loved. Open your hearts and reap the rewards.
